From thin client to database.

A professional community for the people who run Epic’s client systems, application delivery, databases, analytics and infrastructure across the DACH region.

Independent community. EPIC Infra DACH is run by infrastructure professionals for infrastructure professionals. It is not part of Epic Systems Corporation.

From click to database

What happens between a clinician’s click and the patient record

When a nurse scans a wristband or a physician opens a chart, the request travels through five layers, from the device to the database. Two more sit beside that path: analytics works from a copy of the data, and the foundation carries everything. Each layer is owned by different specialists. If one of them fails, the ward notices first. The picture is simplified: it shows dependencies, not a network trace.

Our core areas

Five areas, along the infrastructure

The community is organized around the disciplines that keep Epic secure, stable and available. The five areas group the seven roles on the Expertise page: Healthcare IT Infrastructure covers Platform & Infrastructure, Network & Security, and Identity & Workplace.

01

Client Systems & ECSA

The field of the ECSA (Epic Client Systems Administrator): printing, web services, endpoint and mobile integration, and peripheral technologies.

02

Application Delivery

Bringing Hyperdrive to every workstation, through Citrix or installed locally.

03

ODBA

The field of the ODBA (Operational Database Administrator): InterSystems IRIS administration, mirroring, Linux platforms, performance and reliability.

04

Cogito / Analytics Infrastructure

Clarity, Caboodle, ETL processes, Microsoft SQL Server and reporting.

05

Healthcare IT Infrastructure

Virtualization, hypervisors, storage, network and security as the foundation.

How the community works

This website explains. The exchange happens in private.

Hospitals run Epic under strict confidentiality. That is why everything beyond general orientation stays inside the closed group.

On this website

  • How an Epic environment is built, layer by layer
  • Which roles and skills keep it secure and stable
  • Who can join and how membership works

Inside the private LinkedIn group

  • Peer-to-peer exchange on operations, migrations and upgrades
  • Lessons learned and architecture questions
  • Posts approved by the admins before they appear
  • No patient data, no customer-specific or internal details
